Struggles through the Journey

A short update.... Lately its been a real struggle to stay motivated to workout and eat healthy.  It's so much easier to order out and just sit on the couch when I get home from my long workdays.  Times like this I have to remember WHY I'm doing this... What is it that I really want, what results do I want to see.

I'm starting to realize that I'm half-assing this a lot.  I was extremely gung-ho initially (the first few weeks) and then real life started creeping back.  And this is why its SO HARD for people to lose the weight and keep it off.  Its a life style change, not a temporary fix.  My challenge to myself will be to make a list of WHAT EXACTLY I want to accomplish.  What is it that I truly want?  To be skinny? TO be fit? To fit into those size 7 jeans again?

Once I can specifically identify what I want, I think it will be a WHOLE LOT easier to work towards these goals... because they are tangible now... written down for the world to see (well maybe not the world, but they are out there).

I might set a daily goal for myself as well.  Little things that are easy, but also progress... Maybe stuff like:

1. Run
2. 200 crunches/ ab exercises
3. Walk on lunch
4. Pack Lunch for work
5. Go on a night time walk
6. 30 pushups

etc, etc.. and mark them off as I go.  ANYWAYSSSS enough brainstorming here... Action plan for tonight is to come up with an action plan, and find my motivation to succeed.

Until next time,

Wow! It's been a while! BIG UPDATE

Sooooooo, hmmmm. I definitely fell off the wagon for a while.  A LONG WHILE!

Lets see if I can update y'all.

So I was having a pretty hard time for a while.  I'm super self conscious about my body and my weight (always have been). This year I was heavier than I've EVER been and it was just downright DEPRESSING! 183.4 pounds just does NOT look good on me.

My mom started to see how it was affecting my mood and happiness and decided to do something to help me out.  She suggested we start going back to Weight Watchers on a weekly basis - which is what I needed.  I used to go ALL THE TIME back in High School with my mom and It was the only thing that worked for me on a consistent basis.  So, I agreed and mom started paying for my monthly pass... and my progress so far has been good, I can definitely do better:

Date Weight Loss/Gain Total Loss
May 6, 2012 183.6 0 0
May 13, 2012 180.8 -2.8 -2.8
May 20, 2012 179.6 -1.2 -4.0
June 2, 2012 178.0 -1.6 -5.6
June 9, 2012 177.0 -1.0 -6.6
June 16, 2012 179.2 2.2 -4.4
June 28, 2012 176.4 -2.8 -7.2

I'm pretty proud of myself.  My next weigh in is either going to be Thursday Morning or Saturday, not too sure yet (depends on how my eating is on the Fourth of July).  I'm going to try an post some before and in progress pictures soon.... The before ones are pretty ugly...

Here are some snazzy pictures of the food I have been eating/making during my journey

Turkey Salad with Feta
Side Salad

Steak, Potatoes and Salad
Tilapia, Corn Quinoa, and Salad

My Cheat! Funnel Cake @ Fair

Filet Mignon and Veggies

Until my next weigh in, good luck!

Operation Sexy #1 - Starting line

Day 1/2

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" - Lao Tzu

Yayyyyy for getting healthy.  Its that time of year again to set your New Years Resolutions, and yes you guessed it.. I'm getting back in shape.  The thing thats different this year is that I'm for realsies!

I started officially yesterday and took all my measurements (which will be below) and I plan to update at least once a week on my weight and maybe every 2 weeks for my measurements.

Its important to realize that just because the number on the scale may not be going down, it doesn't mean your body isn't changing.  You may be losing inches and gaining muscle and the scale won't always show that progress.  Remember, do NOT get discouraged.  Its going be a long road ahead but we can all do it and it will definitely be worth it in the end.

As a side note, the way I plan on getting in shape may not be your ideal way or your idea of "the right way"... and thats ok.  You have to do what works best for you, and this is what WILL work for me =]

Measurements:

Starting Weight :  180.2
Starting Body Fat % : 32.4%

Neck - 13 in
Chest - 39 in
Waist - 33.25 in
Hips - 44.5 in
Left Thigh - 24.75 in
Right Thigh - 24 in
Left Calf - 14 in
Right Calf - 14.5 in
Left Bicep - 12 in
Right Bicep - 11.75 in
Left Forearm - 9 in
Right Forearm - 9.5 in

Also, I do plan on working out at least 5 times a week, and I have a trainer that I work out with once a week.  I can and will do this.  I'll try and post my workouts as well on these blogs

Its a New Day!

Hi everyone..

Well here goes nothing.  My name is Alanna and this is my blog... YAYYYY... Anyways, I think this is going to be a whole mishmash of information.  I will definitely be using this to keep myself (and maybe you) accountable for my New Year's Resolution... Getting in shape!  So this is going to be a place where I put down my weekly weigh ins and measurements, put some healthy tips and tricks, and workouts here.

I'm also going to **eventually** have a wedding planning portion on here, when that time comes..  Maybe a DIY section and home buying!  AHHHHH so much to talk about.  But I'm really excited!

I hope this can help some of you out, or at least provide some entertainment!

Have a fabulous day!!!
